Return

Did you get a kit you weren’t expecting?

Naloxone at Homeis a free and confidential service, and sometimes you might receive a naloxone kit you didn’t expect. Here’s why it might have happened:

If that’s the case, feel free to either keep or safely discard the kit. There is nothing to pay and nothing to send back — postage on a returned kit would cost more than the kit, and a kit that has been out of a pharmacy’s control cannot be dispensed to anybody else.

If you’d like to let us know about this, please reach out to us at info@naloxoneathome.ca.

Please do tell us — it is not just courtesy

Every kit we send is recorded against a person who was given training for it. If a kit reached the wrong address, the pharmacist needs to correct that record. Tell us and we will fix it, take the address off our list, and make sure the person who actually wanted a kit gets one. Nobody is in any trouble for telling us.

Disposing of a kit safely

Expired or unwanted naloxone can be handed in at any pharmacy in Ontario for safe disposal, including ours. Do not put syringes in household rubbish or recycling. Naloxone is not a controlled drug, has no street value and cannot be misused — but a used syringe is still a sharps risk to whoever handles the bin.
